History
Guiding was introduced in the Netherlands Antilles in 1930 as part of the Nederlandse Padvindsters Gilde (NPG).
Guiding in Curaçao was established by Mrs. Van Der Berg and Mrs. Zonne (DFM).
Mrs. An Slockers (DFM), known as Guido Slockers, was the first Guide to be officially installed and is also considered the beginning of Guiding in the Antilles. Her installation took place on May 30, 1930.
In 1977, the name of the organization changed to Padvindsters Vereniging van de Nederlandse Antillen (PNA).
In October 2010, when Curaçao became an autonomous country within the Kingdom of the Netherlands, the organization could no longer include “Antilles” in its name. As a result, both the name and logo were changed to Asosiashon di Guia PNA (AGPNA).
In May 2024, the organization introduced a revised logo and new name to reflect its identity more clearly as the Guiding movement of Curaçao. The organization became Girl Guides Curaçao (AGC).
Girl Guides Association of Curaçao is an organization led by female volunteers and dedicated to girls and young women. In 2025, the organization celebrates its 95th anniversary.
